Ray Ozzie Net Worth


In high school Ray learned to program on a GE-400 mainframe. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1979 with a computer science degree. He started his career with Data General Corporation. He then worked at Software Arts and Lotus Development. He worked on Lotus Symphony and created Lotus Notes. Ozzie founded Iris Associates in 1984 and the company was acquired by Lotus in 1994, before Lotus was acquired by IBM the next year. At Microsoft Ozzie wrote a seven page internal memo titled The Internet Services Disruption. This memo would ultimately lead Microsoft to build its enterprise cloud division, Azure, which added trillions of dollars in value to the company. In 2006 he took over for Bill Gates in the role of Chief Software Architect. Ozzie founded FUSE Labs within Microsoft in 2009. His last day with Microsoft was on December 31, 2010. In early 2012 Ozzie started the new company Cocomo, which has since changed to Talko.
