Early Life

Will Poulter was born William Jack Poulter on January 28, 1993, in Hammersmith, London, England. His father, Neil, is Professor of Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine at Imperial College London, and his mother, Caroline, grew up in Kenya and was formerly a nurse. Will attended Harrodian School, where he struggled with his studies as a result of developmental coordination disorder and dyslexia. In a 2013 interview with “The Independent,” Poulter stated, “It felt like it didn’t matter how hard I tried, I wasn’t getting anywhere. That’s the most demoralising thing, as a kid. And to find something like drama, which I loved so much… it gave me a sense of purpose.” In 2012, Will enrolled at the University of Bristol to study drama, but he left after a year to concentrate on acting full-time.
